It is time for peanuts and crackerjacks at the World Series again. The Houston Astros are in the World Series for a second time, this time they are looking to win at least one game. In 2005 they lost all four of their games to the Chicago White Sox. The L.A. Dodgers are going to put up a good fight against the Astros. The Dodgers have been to the World Series 23 times and won it 19 times so they obviously had the advantage in the series. Here are the highlights of each game.
Game 1:The L.A. Dodgers took the lead early in the first inning with a home run from their lead off hitter Chris Turner but Alex Bregman responded with a home run in the fourth. Chris Turner hit a 2 run home run in the bottom of the sixth to bring the game to the final score 3-1. Dodgers Clayton Kershaw had 11 strikeouts, which is the most in game 1 since 1977.
Game 2: Astros scored in the first inning off of a fluke from Taylor. The ball popped off of the Dodgers outfielder and sent the runner home. Pederson gets the first hit of the night off of Verlander to tie the game in the fifth inning. Taylor again, in the sixth, hits a two run homer just like his one in game 1, that the Dodgers won. Correa sends Bregman in for the first run scored on the Dodgers relievers in 28 innings. Gonzalez hits a leadoff homer to tie the game in the ninth. The game goes into extra innings, FREE BASEBALL! Altuve and Correa hit back-to-back dingers in the tenth. Some wild things the Astros pulled off in the bottom of the tenth, bringing in two runs off of some errors made by the Dodgers. Springer hit a 2 run homer in the top of the eleventh responded with a single homer from Charlie Culberson. Game over in the eleventh inning, final score Astros 7, Dodgers 6.
Game 3: Astros took the lead in the second inning scoring 4 runs by Gurriel, Reddick, Evan Gattis, and Martin Gonzales. Dodgers brought in one run in the third by Joe Pederson. The Dodgers had a hard time with errors in the fifth inning and let Josh Reddick score another run. The Dodgers bounced back and scored two runs in the sixth inning but it wasn't enough to win the game. Final 5-3, Astros up 2-1 in the World Series.
Game 4: Both teams took awhile to score but in the sixth inning George Springer hit the first homer to put the Astros in the lead. Dodgers replied in the seventh with an RBI from Logan Forsyth and five more points in the ninth by Corey Seager, Charlie Culberson, and a three run homer by Joc Pederson. Astros could not reply with 5 homeruns but Alex Bregmann hit the only run for them in the ninth. Final 6-2, World Series is tied 2-2.
Game 5: Dodgers took an early lead with a single that ran in Chris Taylor and Justin Turner. Astros made it harder when they let Enrique Hernandez to run in on an error. Logan Forsythe scored for the Dodgers again in the fourth. Astros brought it together in the bottom of the fourth with four runs scored by George Springer, a homer by Yulleski Gurriel, runs by Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa. Dodgers took the lead back in the fifth when Cody Bellinger hit a homer that brought in Corey Seager and Josh Turner. Astros tied the game in the bottom of the fifth when Jose Altuve hit a 3 run homer. Dodgers score again in the seventh but Astros outscore them when George springer hit a homer, Alex Bregamann ran in, and Carlos hit a 2 run homer. Dodgers Joc Pederson scored off of a double from Corey Seager. Astros Brian MacCann homered in the eighth to increase the lead. Yesiel Puig hit a two run homer in the ninth and left Austin Barnes to score the tying run to go to extra innings. MORE FREE BASEBALL!! Astros score the winning run in the tenth when Alex Bregmann hit a single that let Derek Fisher run in to make the game 13-12 and the Astros in the lead in the series 3-2.
Game 6: Astros George Springer started the 3rd inning with a homer and Dodgers did not reply until the sixth inning when Austin Barnes scored off a double from Chris Taylor. Chris Seager took one for the team and hit a sacrifice fly for Chase Utley to score. Joc Pederson hit a homer in the seventh to bring the final score to 3-1 and on to game seven.
Game 7:The Astros score twice in the first inning, one from a pitching error that helped George Springer run in from second, and the second Bregman reached second on the pitching error and steals third, then scored on a ground out from Altuve. In the second the Astros scored three more. McCann was run in by McCullers and Springer hit a two-run homer. Charlie Morton scored for the Dodgers in the sixth after the Dodgers manager ordered two intentional walks to load the bases. The final score was 5-1, Astros.
