In a fiercely competitive world of footwear fashion, everyone tries to prove the case of their favorite brand. Some choosing sneaker powerhouses such as Nike and Adidas, while others favor smaller, emerging brands that have a different style, though driven by individual taste, the debate over which brand is the best rages on.
The basis which people judge these brands on can vary from style, comfort, durability, and reputation. 11th grader Jeffrey Niquette says, “I definitely look for comfort first because if it’s not comfortable, there is no point in wearing it.” Generally, Brands like New Balance and Asics are recognized for their comfort, but Jeffrey prefers to wear Jordan, he states “My favorite, (shoe brand) would probably be Jordan they’re just cool.” He later explains that it was the first brand that he received on a birthday when he was younger this experience draws him to the brand sentimentally.

Eventually leading to whole communities enthusiastic about acquiring specific Jordan models. However not everyone fits into this boat, 9th grader Alexandra Miguez has a different opinion she says, “uh I guess it (my favorite brand) would be converse.” According to The Trend Spotter, Converse’s iconic “Chuck Taylor All-Star’ was an extremely popular basketball shoe in the early 1900s, although it is no longer the most efficient for sports, its has held its popularity in streetwear fashion. Alexandra also shared her thoughts on how durable the shoe is when being active. She says, “I play soccer, I honestly wouldn’t use them for that but if your just in the weight room sure, they’re fine.”
