WandaVision is by far one of the most popular shows out right now. As the Marvel’s Disney+ Series, WandaVision, ends, there is a lot to talk about. There were many characters in this show, and people were introduced to new superheroes and villains. One thing that surprised a lot of people was the return of QuickSilver but played by Evan Peters instead of Aaron Taylor-Johnson. According to tvline.com, “Recasting’ WandaVision ‘s Pietro with what at least looked like the X-Men movies’ version of same was easier typed than done, says the hit Disney+ series’ head writer.” There was not another plan if they could not get Evan Peters on board. Another interesting character was Monica Rambeau and how she developed. Ethan Arevalo, a sophomore at Hillgrove High School, says, “I think Rambeau's character was a bit rushed and should've gotten her powers a bit later.” Rambeau was a bit more of a surprise. The fact that she got powers so early kind of hurt the development of the character. She had a lot of potential and was a good character, but there were characters that were developed better.
This story seems to revolve around the grief of the superhero, The Scarlet Witch, A.K.A Wanda. Kaiden Smith, a sophomore at Hillgrove High School, says, “I feel like the grief really developed Wanda’s character, and is definitely going to allow her to thrive in the next film.” According to tv.avclub.com, “Still, there’s no denying the powerful veins of grief that were mined so thoughtfully by Jac Schaeffer, Matt Shakman, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Bettany.” The grief really messed with Wanda. She enslaved people just to get what she wanted. Losing her family was so much grief for her. She lost her parents, brother, soon to be husband, and then had to take out her kids and husband again. The number of things she has had to go through is traumatic.
This show showed a lot of the different eras and time periods, mimicking different sitcoms. According to o9.gizmode.com, “WandaVision spent the majority of its season referencing and revering 70 years of sitcom history, including Bewitched, Family Ties, and Full House, among others.” Ben Cox, a sophomore at Hillgrove High School, says, “I loved all the eras and stuff, they would switch starting with the 50s and ended in the 2010s, I loved that part.” This show holds a lot for the MCU’s future, especially for the Movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that is scheduled to come out in 2022, which it is almost guaranteed Wanda will be in it. The show was a hit, and people look forward to the future of the shows Marvel will bring to the table.
