Volleyball season is just starting up. The players are preparing for upcoming games and senior night. While it has already been an exciting season, the players still have a lot more to come. The team is working very hard to get as far as they can into the season.
Chelci Banks, positioned in the middle front, says that the season is coming along really well, and that the team is improving every game. When asked if she feels like this season will be successful she responded with, “Yes, I do extremely because we all gell together a lot and we're starting to become more as a team than we were, from the first day we started playing with each other. Because last year a lot of our seniors left and now that it's just us we seem to be gelling very quickly.” In preparation for the season, the team is going through a lot of conditioning in order to reach their goal of making it to Elite Eight. Khloe Henderson says, “We need to have good communication skills, stay consistent, bring a lot of energy, and just fight for what we want.”
With the season just beginning, Chelci Banks explains the rivalries that they will be facing in the future. She says, “Definitely Mount Paran, because last year they were talking a lot of mess and unfortunately, we did lose to them, but this past season we are getting better and starting to fight back more. So now I'm really excited to keep playing them and that's one of our biggest rivalries.” Chelci also adds that two other big rivalries are Allatoona and Harrison.
As for senior night, Sara Pascacello, the setter and defense specialist, gave her opinion on how she feels about this being her last season. She says, “It's weird, because I've been playing for so long and playing high school volleyball has been so fun these four years.” Sara has been a setter since sixth grade and has basically grown up playing the sport. Her advice to JV players on how to have a good season is to, “Have fun and practice your hardest every day during practice.” Khloe Henderson, the team's outside hitter, also gave advice for JV players. She says, “Just stay level headed, stay true to yourself, fight for what you want, and it is just all about having fun.”
The players are excited about the new season and some are even emotional about saying goodbye to the seniors. The seniors want to end their last season strong, as Sara mentions, that she really thinks that they can win on senior night. They are fighting hard and practicing even harder and they hope their hard work is going to show off on the court in upcoming games.
