Venom, the spinoff movie based on the popular character from Spiderman, has been receiving many great critic reviews and positive feedback from audiences. The eye capturing thriller was released in theaters on October 5th. It was directed by Ruben Fleischer, starring Tom Hardy as the main character. The movie takes place in modern time, when a journalist becomes the host of an alien that gives supernatural abilities. Some teenagers who saw Venom that live in the local area shared their thoughts and interests on the movie.
Hillgrove junior, Chelsey Onwuzuruike, said, “a friend recommended it and the trailer looked interesting with a lot of action,” when asked why she went to go see the movie. Kennedy Willis, who is a senior at McEachern unapologetically claimed , “I saw the movie because I am a Marvel fan and I watch every Marvel movie that comes out.” Hillgrove junior, Kylee Gipson, simply just stated, “my friend took me to go see it.”
“My favorite part was when Venom killed his opponent. I forgot his name but he was fighting another Venom and then exploded him at the end”, said Chelsey. Kennedy stated, “My favorite part was actually the ending when he realized Venom was still apart of him.” Kylee’s favorite part of the movie was, “the ending fight scene between Venom and the other parasite.”
No matter the genre of a movie, there is usually some type of message to it, even the subliminal kinds. Kylee admitted she, “did not think there was any message.” Chelsey comically stated, “um, I guess do not let scientist put weird creatures in your body so that you will not destroy the world.” Kennedy responded with, “One lesson you can learn from the movie is that trust is the foundation of any successful relationship because Brock lost his fiancée and job by stealing secrets from her computer.”
Considering Venom contained a lot of pop out scenes, just a couple of these girls were asked about their reactions to the movie. “I did not jump at all during the movie”, said Kennedy. When questioned if she ever closed her eyes, Chelsey admitted, “yes I did a lot, mostly during times where I know something will happen and scary pop ups like when he turned into Venom.”
While Venom has been entertaining for many, it has also been a little scary for some. Overall though, the poisonous creature that ended up having a change of heart captured the attention of various audiences. Venom allowed for yet another successful Marvel motion picture to be added to their list of most memorable superhero movies.
