Street wear, also referred to as street fashion, has been around for many years starting in the late 1970’s continuing all throughout the 21st century. With the new sense about how, clothes can be paired together, society has slowly revamped the culture of street wear throughout generations eventually, leading to the multitude of fashion categories that society sees today. Street wear can hold many qualities of personality and character to them as people pair clothing items together in creating a voiceful' piece that speaks significantly stronger than a simple combination of a t-shirt and pants.
Street wear can most definitely have mixed reviews as thoughts about revolutionized fashion has taken a toll on society. When perusing yourself through town wearing something labeled out of the ordinary, people think of two things. Sophomore Ellis Page says, “Either they're thinking your outfit looks really cool or they think your outfit is weird and why would you wear that out”. In other words, people either get it or they don’t. Society either understands the standpoint or completely disregards it. However, as for any other simple outfit, street wear can sometimes take some courage to uphold depending on the risk you’re willing to take. “You're creating a look that shows off your personality or how you're feeling, so when you take the time to make something your own, you feel more confident in what you've put together”, Ellis explains. Street wear certainly does have the effect of speaking volume than we would think.
Society is drastically influenced by the world around them. The growing trend of fashion from praised celebrities is a big one that has taken grabs on society. Let’s be honest, people scroll all day long on pursuing on celebrities’ pages to see the outfits they wear, “generally when people see espically celebrities wearing different types of clothes, people usually have the urge to buy or wear that same thing, so eventually you see everyone wearing the same thing”. Junior Cora Edwards states. Let me not be the first to say how influenced society is, espically this generation, Gen Z from everything they see online, it’s initially what Gen Z feeds off their everyday life from. However, learning from celebrities’ street wear styles and fending off from that to create your own twist does have positives effects. Cora says, “it gives you more of a gateway to experiment and with that you can discover that there are many ways to be creative with your clothing. Even if you don't think you have a creative side, you'd be surprised when it comes to putting together an outfit”. Even with a 4 by 5 picture online, a spruce of creativity can branch off from that one small picture.

The sensation of street wear will continue to grow as it gives people a sense of confidence and assurance that they can walk the street knowing they created a look for only themselves.
