The Rock Moving to Powder Springs

A 9-million-dollar house off of Bullard Road is now being bought by a famous actor and former WWE wrestler. The house was built in 2002, it is 14,791- square-feet. The main house features eight bedrooms, along with a saltwater pool. Recent articles read that Dwayne Johnson is also adding a gym to the house. He, his wife, and three kids will be living no farther than ten minutes to the people living in Powder Springs.
Eryn Render, a student at The University of Alabama, shared how she felt about him buying a house near her home. “I mean, I think it is really cool that a celebrity that big is moving two minutes down the road from me, but it is not like I am going to see him every day. I think it is cool how I can say, ‘oh yeah, he lives down the street from me though.’” With a celebrity that popular moving to a small town in Georgia, it could possibly cause a little chaos. “I think that a lot of people are going to try and meet him and that is going to be the talk for a while, but maybe after a couple weeks it will not be talked about as much.” Being a movie star and shooting lots of them in different locations make it hard to live in one spot. “I think that this is his temporary home, because he will move around a lot. Maybe when he takes movies close to here, he will live there.” |
Kaya Brock, a current student at Hillgrove High School, talked about her opinion on him buying the house. “I do care that he bought a house here, I am a really big fan of him and the movies he has been in. It is kind of cool, I am just never going to meet him.” With him buying a house here, it could promote other celebrities to do the same. “Not really, I think that it is a smaller town compared to what they are all used to, so I feel like they will not move here unless they had to.” This is something that could impact the community, “I mean, in a good way because of fundraisers and he could bring money to fundraisers.” Other celebrities could do the same thing, “Um, if I were to say, Ryan Reynolds or Paul Walker, but you know, he is dead.”
A celebrity moving this close to ordinary people could be huge for the community, it could help raise money. This is something that no one expected and was out of the blue. |
