Movies are one of the most common leisure activities for families, friend groups, couples, and movie enthusiasts. They can make us sad, happy, angry, inspired, and so much more. Whether they are new stories or old ones being retold, they have the ability to change the way we see the world.
One of the biggest demographic groups that enjoys movies is high school students. The movie theater is often visited by high school students and their friend groups. Many of the movies released this month were directed towards their age group. Some of this month’s newly released movies were Tyler Perry’s Acrimony, Ready Player One, Midnight Sun, Sherlock Gnomes, The Strangers, A Wrinkle in Time, and Love, Simon.
High school student, Tyler Jordan, said, “I think movies are so popular because they can be enjoyed my any one. Also, there’s movies over like any and every thing so everyone can find something they enjoy.” Jordan also commented, “This month I watched Love, Simon, and it was such a good movie. I went to go watch it with all of my friends like last week.”
Another high school student, Hannah Williams, commented on why she loves movies: “[Movies] just help put me into another world. It’s kind of like a book but on a screen. Plus you can share that feeling with a group of friends.”
The movies released this month were categorized under multiple different genres. Some movies were under romantic while others were all the way on the opposite side of the spectrum under horror; either way it allowed for all audiences to be entertained. Just as the students above said, movies can help transport you to places you have never been and help you explore ideas you have never thought of.
