With the movie industry blowing up right now due to the influx of superhero movies, one can assume that the movie studios are making money From Marvel’s cinematic hits like Ant-Man and The Wasp and Infinity War to DC’s films like Wonder Woman and Justice League, and even upcoming films like Shazam and Aquaman, one would think that an actor or actress that has a superhero role must really enjoy it and it has got be extremely lucrative. In other words, if you are Gal Gadot, Chadwick Boseman, or Chris Evans, chances are your enjoying a nice check. Which is why last week, fans of the DC cinematic universe were surprised to hear that Henry Cavill, who has been DC’s Superman for 6 years, has left the role.
This sudden exit has left many people confused, considering that there is going to be a sequel to Justice League, and as any comic book fan knows, there is no Justice League without Superman. “I think he quit because of scheduling problems with the Witcher show on Netflix,” says Braxton Lee, a junior at Hillgrove High School. Add in the fact that Superman himself had his own projects coming up, and there are alot of people wondering how Warner Brothers plans to go forth with the DC cinematic universe without a superman and more importantly, who will be the next Superman? “I am sure the fans are angry and it will probably take them a while to find another Superman,” says Jalen Hendrix, another sophomore at Hillgrove High School.
Some preliminary reports say that the studio is considering notable actor Michael B. Jordan for the role, however some are wondering it would be a smart move considering that Jordan is currently involved in Creed II, and that he is already connected to the Marvel Universe, playing epic villain Erik Killmonger in the box office hit Black Panther. Many speculate that the reason Cavill quit was due to his profitable deal with Netflix to star in their new show Witcher. However some fans do not believe it was all about money. “To be honest, I don’t know. I think it was just about the schedule,” says Lee.
Whatever the case may be, the DC Cinematic Universe has to go forward, and make the best out of a difficult situation.
