When it comes to watching school sports, if the game is not exciting for the entire one-to-two-hour timeframe, it could affect the amount support a game might get. Thankfully, the student section has been a big help in creating buzz and excitement for games. Who knew a section of the bleachers could make so much noise and enthusiasm? From loudly yelling chants to playing hype music and dressing up the student section is never dull. The most common and popular student sections are the basketball and football sections. After grabbing a few students, we got an insider look at their thoughts, comments, and ideas. London Jackson, senior, had a lot to say about the basketball student section. “I would say that probably basketball has a better student section, the student community enjoys it more in my opinion. The energy is better, the chants, the commitment to it. It’s a whole lot of fun”
Basketball and football have two different crowds therefore two different energies. From different halftime performances to different chants, a different experience is promised at almost every game. After talking with Eniola Badejo, senior, his thoughts provide insight into what he among other students might think. “I think to survive in the student section you have to have a lot of energy and a lot of charisma, and you must be able to read the crowd therefore telling you how to react.”
With that being said, it’s essential to bring passion to the section. Along with Hillgrove there are many other schools that have student sections. Some students may say we have the best student section but others like Averee Rainge, sophomore, have their opinions on what others bring to the table.“Allatoona by a landslide has one of the most enthusiastic student sections. It's like watching sim characters... They're always in sync and its honestly mind blowing to see”
