This week football players were interviewed on their thoughts and feelings on physical sports. Injuries play a big part in physical health. They can build strength or cause unnecessary damage if performed incorrectly. First interviewee was Georgia tech commit Ben Galloway. When asked If he felt as if he would get a brain injury he answered with” Well its scientifically proven that the more hits you take to the head that CTE is bound to happen, but it affects people differently and you play at least 5 years your bound to get CTE.” When asked If he had ever gotten hit in the head he answered with “Of Course as a lineman your first contact is with the helmet it’s a shorter area tho so you know when you block you hit with the Helmet first, so you get hit in the head every play.” Ben Galloway is a 6’4 OT committed to Georgia tech has been holding down the fort for 2 years now being on the Oline means he has a lot of head contact. Concisions are one of the most common injuries in football. When asked if hitting took a toll on his body he responded with. “Yeah, you can definitely feel it you can feel it you defiantly feel sore after every practice.” Should coach Deshon add more hitting days, and should you hit more often he replied with “No because you don’t wanna kill your body during the season.” And when asked about more hitting days he replied, “Um no I think he has the right ratio going”. My second interviewee Kason Boggs another football layer was asked Have you ever seen anybody get hurt because of inexperienced and what do you think about that he replied with “Yeah ive seen a kid who didn't know how to tackle and they threw him in there and he led with his head and you’re not supposed to lead to his head and he messed up his back and now he can’t play, and obviously it’s frustrating because I think the coaches knew it’s his first year play but I think you should go over the fundaments first.” Do you think injurys are just part of the game or mistakes from the players? He responded with “Obviously it’s a part of the game but something like that type of injury’s and him not knowing what to do that’s on the player.” When asked about the new safety helmets implemented in the NFL and if they should be in high school, he responded with “Yeah, I’ve seen them. Yeah, I don’t see why not it’s not hurting anybody.” At the end of the day the players are just as concerned about their bodies but like contact and how it strengthens them.
