Stone Wars! Dr. Stone’s New Season Arriving Very Soon
by Tavian Davis
“On that day...every human on Earth...turned to stone!!”. This is the beginning of the very successful manga, now anime adaptation, Dr. Stone. With its profitable first season being concluded, and its upcoming second season, “Stone Wars”, arriving in January of 2021, some viewers share their thoughts on the show.
In the story of Dr. Stone all humans on Earth are turned to stone by a shining green light in the sky. Senku, a senior in high school wakes up from this petrification alone. It is interesting to see how some people would approach a situation like this. Lanayah Davis, a college student, says, “I’m not very good in the technological field so I would live like a primal.” One interesting thing about Senku, however, is that he is a genius. The show uses actual science and information to achieve goals. Lanayah continues, “It taught me the process of making an antibiotic.” Due to the depth of Senku’s scientific endeavors, many viewers learn things from the show.
Senku finds out a way to undo the petrification and frees three people. Two of these people are his friends and one was an assumed new companion. This new character was Tsukasa Shishio, a former athlete and the strongest primal human there was.
Senku’s idea was to free all humans from their petrification and rebuild society. This is the opposite of Tsukasa’s idea which was that only the young should be freed, and the old should be killed as stone. Tristan Vernet, a student and anime watcher, says, “Tsukasa is an interesting character. Unfortunately, his ideas are unfair.” This difference in ideas leads to Senku and his friends going up against Tsukasa. They all split up as a result, however. Senku went on to make substantial progress in science with new companions, and at the same time Tsukasa made great progress in manpower.
Dr. Stone has many great aspects to it. “It actually teaches science,” says Tristan. It also has in-depth characters. Tristan continues, “The character development was good. Most characters grew in a variety of ways becoming smarter and improving overall.” In the anime it was seen the diversity in skillsets between characters. Zion Hooks, a student and anime viewer, says, “They all have their unique traits they contribute. It’s a clash of mindsets.” This is very true as the audience got to see Senku gain new friends to help him in creating his Kingdom of Science.
The first season of the anime concluded with the approach of a war between Senku’s Kingdom of Science, and Tsukasa’s Empire. The war will take place in the second season of the anime. It is titled, “Stone Wars”. There are many predictions for Stone Wars. “I think someone important or of the main characters is going to die,” says Zion. The events that will take place in Stone Wars are unknown to most of those who have not read the story originally, however, One thing for certain. Fans are eagerly waiting and counting the days of its arrival in only four months.
