In the previous week, Hillgrove had senior week for the football team and senior skip day. Senior Week" is designed to provide the senior class with an experience that they will remember forever. Class of 2023 has only a few more months of being Hillgrove hawks. As they approach graduation dates, getting the input of the effect on the senior class will determine if they leave a legacy or be just like the rest.
Sophomore Tyree Harris claims he has many seniors’ friends that he has enjoyed half of his high school career with. He will be sad when they leave because “those are [my] boys.” He continues to say, “I am going to the game Friday because it is the last one and it is a rival game. McEachern hate week is my favorite and I hope that the seniors can lead us to a fun week.”
Sophomore Psalm feels sad for the seniors as for many of them it will soon be their last ride and many will not continue to play or continue their education in the future. Psalm claims many are supporting the senior week as college applications begin to be submitted and things of that nature. Finally, he states, “Class of 23, had a positive impact so far because they’re good kids and remodels for the most part.”
Finally, Junior Nicolas Shead says he is really close with class of 25’ and 23’. He is sad to let them go but wishes they had a bigger impact on the school. “No class of 23 has not done enough considering we are almost halfway done with the year, and they have barely done anything.” Nicolas claims he cannot wait to be a senior because his class “is going to do it the best.”
In conclusion, there are mixed opinions on class of 23’ some good, some bad. Still, they are supported and senior/hate week is in their control and the legacy that may or may not leave for Hillgrove high school.
