Sending your last year off with a blast versus starting the beginning of the end is something many people experience. After talking to a few seniors and freshman some perspective of how it all feels was revealed. Elizabeth Guendulain, senior, shared that “I'm proud of the hard work I put in because while some didn’t take it seriously, I did and, in the end, my hard work paid off.” In a senior’s last year, they are busy not only filling out applications for college but reminiscing on the last four years that got them to this place.
With that being said, it’s essential to go back to where you started. Freshman, Sadiq Marcano, spoke on how he predicts his first year will be “I mean coming from middle school the high school environment is different, but I think this year to me is really about navigating how my next four years will pan out and finding ways to get involved.” Nothing can prepare a blossoming freshman for the whirlwind of emotions and tribulations they will endure. So, it’s interesting to see how the new class of Hillgrove will propel by the time they graduate.
High school is scary enough on its own to think about so to add graduation to your plate definitely has seniors filled with stress and anxiousness. Jenna Latessa, a senior, shared “I think the biggest thing I'm worried about is making sure my essay and curriculars ensure I get into a good college that can provide me with the experience I desire.” All in all, you cannot compare the starting line to the finish line, but you can see that whether it’s your first year or your last, you still have a huge journey ahead of you.
