In 1950 Jane Roe which was a fictional name used in court documents to protect plaintiffs’ identity, but Jane Roe filled a lawsuit against Henry Wade, challenging Texas law making abortion illegal except by a doctor’s orders to save a women’s life. This case was brought upon by the Supreme Court that was held to protect the right to abortion. Some believe women should have the right to make their own decisions as it pertains to their body. Which today’s society might call it “Pro-Choice”? In cases of rape and sexual Harassment and then further led to unwanted pregnancies, “women should be able to make the choice of what is to happen with the child”. Says Peyton Jones. There was a woman in the late 1960’s named Norma McCorvey she was denied access to an abortion because the pregnancy didn’t pose to be a medical risk to her life. In the later years this type of access was often denied and wasn’t uncommon, because lawmakers had the authority to make pregnant women stay pregnant. “After a certain number of weeks of being pregnant you shouldn’t be able to have an abortion, but to put a total ban on it is not okay”. Says Ryan Davis. When a woman is more than 15 weeks pregnant it becomes illegal to have an abortion. On the other hand, there’s is a group that society today would call “Pro-Life”. This means that you believe no matter the circumstances the woman is under it gives her no right to have an abortion.” Once you decide to lay down with someone and not even try to be safe you can’t be upset with the consequences that come with that”. Says Jada Jefferson. Having a child is not an easy task and takes a lot of responsibility. To eliminate that, it seems worth it to not engage in sexual activities. This debate will go on for years because there is so many things wrong today. “Although rape and incest are distinct legal grounds for abortion, they are very commonly paired together in abortion laws and policies”. These issues arose because of the rapist and pedophiles that roam this earth and now women must suffer and are being stripped of their rights day by day.
