Power 5 is the typical dream college. Power 5 has the money, the athletics, and exposure, and reputation. What could be better than a power 5 college?
Brooke is a senior (12) at Hillgrove and doesn’t really have a plan to go to college. “I'm going to the Military. The Marines.” She quoted. Brooke claims that her dream career is to be a Cop. Her thoughts on lower division school's vs power 5, were on a positive note. “I still think you can be successful if you go to them, like you don’t have to just go to a power 5 school to be successful.” She spoke. But regarding athletics, she had a different side to the idea. It's kind of if-fy. I feel like if you want to go D1 and be out there, you must go to a higher division school.
Justin is a sophomore (10) at Hillgrove and claims his dream college to be Jackson State University. “I like college, I plan to go to college, and I think it’s a necessary step that everybody should take, it just should be more accessible.” He spoke. Justin doesn’t really have a take on the worst power 5 school for athletics, but he claims LSU is his favorite college sports team. “Say you want to get in a warm-weather state, go to somewhere like LSU, a college down south people like me would rather go to a warm-weather state than a cold-weather state.” Justin spoke on campus geography. Justin claims college can give you many job options, as he says, “All the job opportunities you get once you get out of college.”
Tyler is a Junior (11) at Hillgrove, and claims high school and college are the same but college is just harder. Tyler thinks a college’s reputation is solely based off of their athletics. “Their reputation is usually based off their sports teams, like you never hear anyone talk about how like Georgia got the best math classes. You hear them talk about the football team.” He spoke. In addition, Tyler added his favorite teams. “I really mess with Vanderbilt because I like baseball and you know, Vanderbilt like the best at baseball.” He also said, “Wisconsin, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Texas, Bama, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and yea.”
So, with all of this, we can get a decent insight into Power 5 schools and takes on these schools. These schools are the top in the nation. They are the richest, biggest, best educated, and have the highest level of athletics. If you are still in high school, you definitely want to make sure you can get into one of these power 5 schools.
