In the late 90’s throughout the early 2000’s, Disney Channel has created phenomenal original shows. For example, Fish Hooks, That’s So Raven, and Kim Possible. However, there is one show that brings back nostalgia for many, but some have never even heard of it. Also, there have been many dark theories created by fans that may put perspective on the show. This show is Phineas and Ferb.
Phineas and Ferb was a cartoon show about two step-brothers inventing creations over their summer break. They spent time in their backyard while their older sister Candance tried to get them “busted.” Nevertheless, fans of the show wrote dark theories behind the brothers adventures. Some theories claimed that Phineas had passed away and Candance began to make up stories to her mom about Phineas and Ferb. Another theory claimed the family lived in Russia, and Candance was neglected by her mother and in order for her to get attention, she would make up stories about Phineas and Ferb. Both of these theories have grown very popular and both of them have claimed to be the true story behind Phineas and Ferb.
However, these theories are just theories. In an interview between The Slate, Dan Povenmire, the co-creator, explained that he drew Phineas in some butcher paper at a restaurant . Povenmire told The Slate, “I tore that piece off and told my wife, ‘This is the show I'm going to sell.’ ”
A freshman at Hillgrove, Sarah Chastain, explained what she thought about the theories: “I think it’s kind of cool I guess, it’s a cool conspiracy theory because it makes you think about if it’s really true. It makes you think about it in a different perspective, but like honestly, overall as a show I just think it is what it is.”
Will Ervin, a freshman at Hillgrove High School said, “I don’t really believe that um, in spite of that, I think that’s too much detail and I think it’s a little morbid that ... Disney would make something like that.”
Kate Stathem, a sophomore at Hillgrove, explained, “I think they’re theories, that’s for sure. I’m hoping half of them aren’t right, but I think it would be kind of cool to also see if some of them are correct.” What Stathem learned from the show is, “To live your life to the fullest.”
Phineas and Ferb was a show where kids were allowed to let their imaginations run wild. It is always strange to hear a dark theory, but it does bring a different point of view.
