Mrs. Stewart is the new principal at Hillgrove high school for the 2017-18 school year and she has got big plans for this school year! I interviewed her via email and asked her multiple questions to get to know more about her as an all around person and her plans for the school. The Talon is here to give you the latest scoop on our principal. Many students here at Hillgrove may know Mrs. Stewart from Lovinggood, but very few people may know that she started out in education as a paraprofessional (teacher’s assistant) right out of college. Mrs. Stewart stated that after being a paraprofessional, she “knew then that I wanted to teach and pursued it.” She said that after that she went to highschool as a teacher and then an administrator, but she never anticipated that she would end up being the principal of such a fine school like Hillgrove. We are all happy to have her here, but many students are curious what she will change about the school, what will stay the same, and what her emphasis for the school year will be. I asked Patrick Ramsey, a senior at Hillgrove, what he wanted her to do this year for the students and he said that he wants her to make this year “as awesome as possible”, and that he hopes she follows through with a rumored promise about changing pep rallies. I came to Mrs. Stewart with these questions about pep rallies and to everyone’s enjoyment she stated that she will work with everyone involved to try and improve pep rallies and that “I want students to have pride in their school so I am listening and hoping to make changes soon.” She truly seems to be someone who cares deeply for Hillgrove and the quality of every student's high school experience. With an outstanding principal like Mrs. Stewart leading Hillgrove this year we are obviously in good hands. She's got The Talon’s seal of approval.
