The new NBA season is right around the corner and there is a great deal of excitement around it! There are new rookies ready to take the league by storm and rebuilt teams prepared to improve on last year and go after the Warriors’ crown. The Oklahoma City Thunder have given reigning MVP, Russel Westbrook, more tools to improve his team with, in players Carmelo Anthony and Paul George. The storyline of how the addition of two other elite scorers will fit in with, the ball dominant, Russel Westbrook will be an interesting one to follow. Another team that has managed to make a great amount of improvements in the off-season is the Boston Celtics that have added, premier scorers and team leaders, Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward. The Celtics have been a team on the cusp of greatness that always seemed to be missing just one piece and it seems that instead of adding the one missing piece, they have added two. Not all teams have improved over the offseason and Hillgrove senior, Ellis Mills, feels that, “The Rockets have gotten so much better, at the expense of the Clippers losing their franchise Point [Guard].” Hillgrove Sophomore, Sebastian Torres, feels that the team that has regressed the most is much closer to home and he said that “unfortunately Atlanta” seems to be the team that has gotten the worst over the offseason. Certain teams that have struggled over recent years hope that their luck is about to change. The Lakers feel that they have found their future franchise player in Lonzo Ball and many fans believe that he is “the truth”. Philadelphia 76er fans feel that they are about to be done “trusting the process” with rookies Ben Simmons and Markel Fultz joining forces to change the losing culture in Philadelphia. Both Ellis and Sebastian feel that the Warriors will win the championship again this season, but there are a lot more teams that have added on higher levels of talent that are ready to give the Warriors a run for their money.
