Natural resources are some of the most important things the Earth provides us with. Some operate and function in our everyday lives, and some help humans operate and function daily. Grove students are questioned on their thought on this topic, for these things are life necessities.
Donovan McGhee is a sophomore (10) at Hillgrove. He claims that natural resources are needed to live. “I think its good… I think we got a lot of them,” he said. He also claims nonrenewable resource access is good. “Non-renewable resources help us out, but once we use them, they are gone.” He spoke. But compared to the opposite renewable resources, he said, “We don’t pollute the world with electricity but with gas and stuff, we do.” Donovan had a smart idea regarding him and scarce non-renewable resources as well. He quotes, “Id sell it… well I would not sell it I would make a monopoly on it for money.
Ashton Johnson is a sophomore (10) at Hillgrove. “Basically, a resource that comes from the Earth like gold and oil and silver stuff like that.” He spoke. For the aftermath of nonrenewable resources, Ashton said, “They would probably try to find like a different way to substitute those resources,” and, “We could try to find ways to recycle them instead of polluting the air and waters, throwing them away.” Ashton claims that most natural resources are most likely to be found in Africa. Ashton as well, sided with renewable resources though, as he said, "I don’t know if fuel like coal and all that stuff is really good because it pollutes the air very quickly, so it would probably be renewable.”
Mackenzie is a senior (12) at Hillgrove. She claims vital resources include water, light, minerals, and soil. “Its natural and comes from the ground. It is not man made or anything.” She spoke. For non-renewable resource usage, she said, “They are used for cars, nuclear energy, and combustion.” She had words for conservation of non-renewable resources as well. “Electric cars, saving trees, organizations, creating reusable oil, recycling. “She said. “I think it’s a good way to save and reduce air pollution, but they don’t last as long as cars with gas.” She spoke on electric cars. Mackenzie had words on renewable energy as well. “Renewable is better, because you are making it, and can re-new it.” she said. Mackenzie claims reducing and caring about the environment can help conserve non-renewable resources.
So, these takes, and thoughts can give ideas of how to handle some of the issues that come with natural resource seeking. Natural resources are so important and helpful, but in contrast can be harmful and negative. Both renewable and non-renewable resources have their pros and cons but based on your needs or the availability of the resources, you will be affected differently. What are your own thoughts on these natural resources?
