Can music really change your mood? Everyday people go throughout life with either a favorite song, genre, or artist. That is the amazing thing about music: there is so much variety, but the real question is, “Does it really help with your overall mood?”
People all over the world ranging from any age are listening to music right now. Babies grow up and senior adults grow old listening to music. According to Kenley Reese “Music is a way to express how you are feeling and it sometimes can change your attitude.” In fact, music can best be described as wonderful force that can bond people together and can be the difference between love and war.
Music is something you can listen to any time anywhere. Music is not bound by time it has no limitations. Music speaks its own language it is not defined by one culture. Music is so important to the society now because that is how people can express how they feel without saying anything. It can change people’s outlook on life as well as their emotions. Music can do many things like make you smarter, there are positive medicinal effects, and it can also adjust your attitude.
Music is not only good for your overall mood but can also help your body. Music can slow down and equalize brain waves, it can affect your heartbeat, pulse rate and blood pressure, can regulate stress-related hormones, boost immune function, strengthen memory and learning, and boost productivity.
Many students, like Devina Checo, says that music helps her think and helps with her stress. "When I listen to music it takes me to another place and it puts me in a good mood and when I study I also like to listen to music because I feel like it helps me focus.”
Music is big for teenagers, but it also affects adults. Many adults like Adam Stevens listens to music pretty much everywhere. Adam is a 45-year-old man who listens to music when he works out, when he works in his office, and even when he is just sitting around the house. According to Adam music makes you feel a certain way and certainly changes his mood. “When I listen to music I get in this really happy mood. I can be sad and the next moment I can be in a happy mood, it just depends what kind of music I am listening to."
So the next time you put on your favorite track, have a little dance knowing that you are likely to be reaping some health benefits.
