Music Midtown 2019
Lindsey Tipton
Music Midtown is one of the largest music festivals in Midtown Atlanta. September 14 through 15 are the official dates of this event. High schoolers and a lot of middle aged people all come around the city to watch some of their favorite people perform live. This year the line up includes Cardi B, Travis Scott, Panic at The Disco, Billie Ellish, Lil Yatchy, Vampire Weekend and more.
Reagan Tipton, a student at Hillgrove High School, said a few thoughts about this festival. Since there are so many different artists there are many parts of Music Midtown to look forward to: “The best part about it is the atmosphere because you’re around people with similar music interest and you get to listen to super fun music.” Most people tend to go with groups of friends from school or their family. Reagan had a say on this: “ I would definitely go again with my friends because they can relate more to the music that I listen to.” Another big part of Music Midtown is all the hype that is put in to it. When it comes close to the time of the event or when the lineup comes out that is the only thing people talk about: “There's a lot of hype because it's a weekend where you get to dress up and like to listen to music with all your friends.”
Gabby Ramey, a student at Hillgrove High School, attended Music Midtown last year and gave an overall idea of what Music Midtown really is. They have a lot of food and drink stations where all types of foods can be found: “ They had chicken, chicken nuggets, pizza, soda, water and stuff like that.” The genre of music played at the festival ranges from Rap, Country, Hip Hop, Pop, Alternative, and many more. Since some of the music is not appropriate for all ages people must take into consideration and should have caution. “ I think you should at least be 10 beacuse its kinda inappropriate.” Bria Collins another Hillgrove High School student who is going this year is looking forward to the festival. She had many memories from her experience last year: “ My friends Lindsey and Tori tried to get on each others shoulders and they fell it was really funny.” She had some advice to give to others who are going this year: “Just have fun, be aware of your surroundings, don't do drugs, and yeah.”
Music Midtown is this week and everyone's excitement can not be contained. As the weekend ends music midtown will end as well. It will come back every year at the same place and the same time of year. Music Midtown will go down as one of the best music festivals of all time in your hometown, Atlanta Georgia!
