Music has developed and grown for centuries. Music today has changed drastically from those times. Over 1200 music genres, but everyone has their favorite music they like to have in their ears. Music can have so many benefits, but at the same time, have negative effects on people.
Mackenzie Gresham is a freshman (9), and she is on the chill pop side of music, having Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, and Dayglow as her top 3 favorite artists. “At school I listen to a lot of like calm lyrical music. At home I listen to instrumental when I do my homework, and then like, outside on walks, I do a lot of upbeat music.” she spoke. Mackenzie likes concerts too, as compared to listening at home. “I think live concerts give a lot of good experiences. At home it's like... at live concerts you meet a bunch of people that like to help enjoy it more.” She adds. In addition, people have different takes on rappers nowadays. “I think they deserve the same respect everyone gets. I think people judge them a lot harsher than they should, but I think they are like all other artists, they are just chill.” She spoke about it.
Niko Marierose is a sophomore (10) and likes the chill rap music genre. “Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, and probably J. Cole.” he said about his top 3 artists. Niko listens to music daily, and his taste isn't bad at all. “There's way more murder music, like way more aggressive music, like music got almost out of hand really.” he spoke. On the controversial topic of Lil Baby and his hype, he said, “I think Gunna is better than Lil Baby, and they got to free Gunna. But Lil Baby isn't even all that it's just because he's from Atlanta, so that’s why Atlanta gives him so much love.” Considering the following, music needs a platform/source to be played on. “I think ‘Spin Real’ is nice, I think Spotify is nice, and I think Apple Music is nice. But if it was up to me, I'd combine all 3 because sometimes, Spotify and SoundCloud, and all those have different music that Apple Music doesn’t really have.” Niko spoke.
Zion Anderson is a sophomore (10), and is in a mix of hardcore rap, and chill rap with some gospel and R&B in there too. “YoungBoy, Lil Baby, and Rod Wave.” he said. Zion had a take on the recent death over Migos rapper, Takeoff. His death was unexpected and tragic, and has many people lost. “Um, RIP Takeoff you know, that’s just really sad shooting at a dice game. I feel like Quavo is going to take over his legacy and come up top.” He spoke. Artists may not only have tragedies, but can tend to fall off with time. “Because they stick to the same flow and they don’t have any like, varieties in their music.” he spoke on the falling-off of rappers. Zion claims Country music, as his least favorite genre. “Country. It’s too like... it got a little accent, and I don’t like that.” He spoke on it.
So, considering the following, music has impacts and affects the world in so many styles and settings. Live, or electronic, it spreads around fast and is well known. Music’s development and evolution, is something that has no explanation, and its just something you just need to enjoy.
