Taylor Swift, American pop and country music singer-songwriter is releasing her new album Midnights on October 21st. This album consists of 13 songs, written during sleepless nights throughout Swift’s life. “All the songs she wrote were at or around midnight” Abbie Ledford, explains. These lyrics can be relatable to many followers,
Lacey Jacobs (10), a fan of Taylor says, “You can really feel the music, you're not just singing a song for what it is, you can relate to it and really dive deep into the message of it”.
With Midnights coming out soon, Fans are raising their expectations and attempts to make predictions. Ella McGee another Taylor fan theorized on the success of the album. “This is going to be one of her best albums, she’s rerecorded a lot. (of old songs) … but she hasn’t released a new album since 2020, so it's going to be so insane.”
“The music videos are going to be so emotional.” Abbie included
The album’s contents have been kept secret; however, Taylor shared the track list which includes the following songs, Lavender Haze, Maroon, Anti-Hero, Snow on the Beach [ft. Lana Del Rey]/ You’re on Your Own, Kid, Midnight Rain, Question...?,Vigilante S***, Bejeweled, Labyrinth, Karma, Sweet Nothing, Mastermind. Lacey Jacobs shared her excitement for the song “Karma”, “She said something about how she was going to make it an entire album, but her publicity was bad so then they made it a song not an album.” Fans theorize that the song is about Swift’s feud with Kanye West. Back in 2009 during the MTV’s Video Music Awards Kanye interrupted Taylor as she accepted her reward on best female video. Kanye harshly claimed that Beyonce should've won for her video “Single Ladies” rather than Taylor’s video to “You Belong with Me”. Their feud continued to grow when “Famous” was released by Kanye. “Look What You Made Me Do” was later released as a rebuttal from Taylor. The feud seems to not have come to an end just yet.
In Midnights, Taylor is also doing a collaboration with Lana Del Rey. Swift has done collaborations with many different types of artists. Lacey Jacobs expressed her love for Taylor’s collab with Ed Sheeran, "I like how they switch off in the verses and then come back together for the chorus.”
People all around the world are highly anticipating the release of this new album by counting down the days to seconds all around the world. Can Taylor meet the expectations of such a large fandom? We shall find out on October 21st!
