Perfecting a performance is a challenging task and takes many days and hours to perfect and memorize such a sophisticated performance, especially when creating a show so meaningful with real world problems in it. Especially if it is a large group of newcomers it can become even more challenging. Angela, who is a part of color guard, says, “practicing this performance is a weekly thing. We can practice for three to four hours a day.” Angela adds that the practices are rigorous but the show turns out amazing in the end.
While putting on a show this amazing and detailed the performers do have trouble with some of their performance ranging from choreography to playing the notes. Lauren , who also participates in the color guard, says, “ some parts are difficult because we have some off the instrument players dancing with us so it is difficult to have them learn the dance and play the song as well.” All instrument players in the show have a dance that they perform. Tj, a drummer, says ,”it is difficult to have to learn the music and remember to do the dance but the practices are helpful and every Friday we are able to put on great shows.” Lauren also states “ that although we have difficulty with the band dancing, it makes for a great show and we encourage people to come and see it.”
This season marching band is putting on a show encouraging more love rather than likes. The first part consist of three groups which represent social media. Then the groups realize they need to come together. In the end they pass out from exhaustion of trying to compete for more likes on social media. While the performance is very rigorous, the performers have favorite parts of which they truly love doing. Angela comments on how she loves the part of the show when all the instrument players fall to the ground. The marching band this season is putting on a show where they want more love instead of likes. They are make a statement in which they think love is more important than a like on a social media account. The morale of the performance is that love is more important than a like on social media the band does a wonderful job in portraying this in their show .
