This week at Hillgrove high school the topic is how does the early start time of school effect sleep and productivity. With most high schools starting at 8;30 or earlier it is almost impossible for any student to get enough sleep, which is detrimental to their health and productivity given that most students either work or play a sport or both. While the recommended sleep time for teems is 8 to 10 hours a night which is quite impossible for some especial those who practice at night and do not even get home in time to go to bed and get enough sleep. This has a heavy impact on the performance of those students.
with a Hillgrove student Brody bond saying, “I early get enough sleep which makes me feel sloppy a school” when students don’t get enough sleep, they tend to sleep in class which makes them miss what they would be learning as Hillgrove student ollie Bagley said, “I'm always tired in class because I never get enough sleep, so I always sleep in first, so I never know what's going on in class". Which can lead to them failing their classes. So, school starting later would help many students immensely in all kinds of ways. If school did not start early and at a more reasonable time it would allow students to get enough sleep.
As Hillgrove student Jc Matlock mentions “if school started a couple hours later, I would help me a lot I almost never get enough sleep and am almost Allways exhausted in the morning trying to learn school having a later start time would help me and many others.”
So, in conclusion if school had a later start time it would help many students in many ways allowing them to get the right amount of sleep and not feel exhausted in the morning. A later start time in school would help students balance their school life with their sports and social life. And it would just be overall beneficial to all students.
