Bulldogs are not just a household pet, they symbolize the star of Athens, Georgia. The Georgia Bulldogs are ranked second in the SEC, while the LSU Tigers are ranked thirteenth. These two teams have not played each other since 2013, when the Tigers lost. So far, Georgia is undefeated with a 6-0 record, whereas LSU is 5-1, with their only loss being to the Florida Gators. The two teams will be paying each other on Saturday, October 13th at LSU’s stadium, Death Valley, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Austin Fern, a junior at Hillgrove High School, is very excited to watch the game this Saturday. When asked what team he is rooting for, he said, “LSU, because that’s my team. Ed Orgeron, the head coach is my cousin.” Austin believes that home field advantage is very important because, “The fans getting loud really pumps up the team and helps them to perform better and play a more competitive team.” LSU expects, “one of the largest game day crowds ever on campus”. Austin thinks this is because, “LSU has a chance to beat one of the top teams in college football at the moment.” He says that “both teams are good” and is “all up to the offensive line if UGA wins the game.”
Sophomore Erin Seagraves and Maddie Townson both want the Georgia Bulldogs to win. When asked if she has ever been to a college football game, Erin said, “I’ve been to a couple and they have all been really fun. It’s cool being around people who all love and support the same team. And watching your favorite team win is great.” Erin thinks home field advantage is important because, “I think it is easier to play in front of people who are cheering for you instead of booing and just seeing their fans is important to the players.” Maddie Townson thinks that the Dawgs are intimidated by playing in Death Valley because, “Majority of the crowd will be cheering for LSU and a lot of pressure will be put on the Dawgs.” Considering LSU’s massive defense, Maddie thinks that, “Georgia will have to work harder but they have a really good offense so I think that they can do it.”
Sophomore Emma Gordon wants Georgia to win because, “I have been a Georgia fan since I was little- both of my parents got degrees from UGA and I want to go there myself.” Emma said, “I think home field advantage is very important, with most teams playing at home is more comfortable and relaxed for the players.” When asked if she thinks that the Dawgs are intimidated by playing in Death Valley, she said, “I don’t think that they are intimidated, I think Kirby Smart has coached them well and that they are confident in their abilities to win football games.”
With how the Georgia Bulldogs have played these past couple of months, many fans believe that the Dawgs have a very good chance of winning the game against LSU this weekend.
