Georgia vs. LSU was expected to be a very competitive and close game. It was the talk of the town, on December 7, at 6:30, the game began. LSU started out strong. The first half of the game was pretty close, but in the third quarter, LSU took off with the lead. After that, everyone knew it was over, Georgia did not have a chance. With them losing, that meant they were out of the playoffs, which would cause Oklahoma to get in as the number four spot. The game surprised many, no one thought that would be the outcome.
Jake Carter, a student at Hillgrove High School, talked about how he feels about the game last Saturday. “Well, I am a huge Georgia fan so it was hard to watch them beat us that bad, and especially because we got kicked out of the college football playoffs.” Georgia did not play to their full potential, “I think we did not play good because the nerves got to us, we were playing in the Mercedes Benz Stadium, and we were the underdogs and the players got into their heads.” During the game, Jake fromm was sacked and injured left ankle, “The rest of the game I could see he was hurting, so that was something that caused him to not play as good as he is.”
Connor Dunaway, a student at Hillgrove High School, shared what he saw during the game. “Well, I don't even think Georgia should have played in that game. There were teams who should have been in it, Georgia got beat by South Carolina, which they are not good at all.” Some did not think Georgia was going to win before the game started, “Well LSU was looking like the best team in the country and with Joe Burrow, they were unstoppable in the previous games.”
In college football games, it always comes down to who the better team is. If the team plays to the best of their ability, they will win, even if they are ranked lower, for example, Georgia vs. South Carolina. Georgia was expected to blow South Carolina out, but they lost. LSU played as hard as they could, and they won because of that. Maybe Georgia gave up the second half, or maybe LSU is the better team. With Georgia out of the playoffs, LSU will now play number 4, Oklahoma.
