Is Love Blind? Netflix Original

Netflix Original Love is Blind was released on February 13, 2020 and is hosted by Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey. The show’s goal is to have couples fall in love and get married without ever seeing each other face-to-face. It is testing to see if emotional connection can conquer physical attraction. For now, there is only one season available with 13 episodes.
There is a total of 30 contestants of men and women and for ten days they try to find love in a speed dating format. The men and women talk to each other in “pods” where they cannot see each other but they can talk to one another. Whenever the men have made a final decision, they can propose to the women they want to marry. After the proposal, they meet face-to-face for the first time. The couples that have been paired up travel to Mexico to get to know one another more, and that is when they get to meet all of the other contestants. Following the retreat, the couples that are still engaged move into an apartment complex in Atlanta where they get to meet family, friends, and are able to look at each other's living conditions. Finally, the couple makes their final decisions at the altar to whether to split up or marry which answers the question is love blind?
Isaiah, a sophomore in Pennsylvania, shared what he thought about the show and the prompt: “I think some people in the show in general was weird and cringy, but I think it gave a good message and I think you can really tell the character of some people on the show.” The contestants' character and the way they behave gave great insight into how they are as a person. There were some contestants that the people were not too happy with due to the way they acted and how they treated people, which does make people think if love is really blind.
Alex, a sophomore who lives in Pennsylvania, shared, “I think to some people love is blind because in the end personality rules all but when I watched the show, I can tell some people partners did not fulfill their expectations look wise even though they liked their personality. And looks were enough for them to reject each other.” When the show ended, there were only two couples who got married out of the six couples. The two of which are still happily married and together. So is love really blind?
Overall, the show was a hit and even though there has not been an announcement for season two, many people are waiting and hoping for a season two once the pandemic is over.
