The creator of The Loud House, Chris Savino, has been officially fired by Nickeloden amidst a huge scandal involving accusations of sexual harassment. In the middle of October, news site cartoonbrew.com first reported that Savino had been suspended for allegedly advancing on several women in a sexual manner. As the rumor spread, more evidence began to pop up exposing Savino’s acts of misconduct. Namely, more than ten women came out and spoke about being victims of sexual harassment at the hands of Savino. One of these women was Anne Walker Ferrell, one of the people involved with the popular Netflix show Bojack Horseman.
Walker stated that Chris Savino sexually harassed her fifteen years ago, and went to Twitter to post more information about the incident. While talking about the matter, Walker said, “I learned the hard, sad, but ultimately REAL lesson...I wasn't a ‘promising artist,’ I was just cute and dumb” (taken from nydailynews.com). Nickeloden has since fired Savino while deciding to continue working on The Loud House in his absence. Savino himself later responded to the accusations on Facebook, expressing deep remorse. Despite this, it does not seem like he will be viewed in a good light for some time to come. Even Hillgrove student Aislyn Smith agreed that Savino’s actions were “wrong and need to be punished.”
Before moving to Nickeloden, Chris Savino started his career by working on shows such as the original Powerpuff Girls and Dexter’s Lab. His current series, The Loud House, follows the misadventures of a young boy living in a house with loads of sisters who are each eccentric in their own way. Since its debut, people have praised it as being one of the network’s only good shows currently airing. With its creator now fired, it is unknown whether or not the show will still maintain its quality or go downhill. Whatever the case may be, we can only hope that the victims of this scandal can now find solitude with the person responsible now getting what he deserves.
