Hillgrove has been open since 2006. Their football team has been a big conversation since the time of opening, especially their JV team. The JV team this year has been undefeated for a while. Jawon Garner plays on the JV team and he thinks that the season is going well. He thinks the JV team is looking really good. Defense is good and offense needs a little work but, as always they will come through. So far this season they have won all their games. They have yet to take a loss. They are ranked 21st in their region. Their biggest rival is McEachern. They can not wait to play October 5th against McEachern, so make sure you come out and support.
Davian Thomas thinks that they are doing great so far. He thinks his skills are pretty decent but, definitely could use some work to get better and stay better. He feels his team does great as a whole. Davian thinks that McEachern is Hillgrove biggest rival because they have been rivals since 2006. When you have been rivals for so long it is hard to not stay rivals. Evan Veasley feels very confident that they are going to win every game. He also feels McEachern is their biggest rival. He thinks McEachern is a big game but, honestly to him every game is a big game.
The JV team and the coaches work hard. Everyone has the same goal, to win the game. The goal is not all that matters, your team is basically your family. Each teammate is like a brother. When they are out there on that field they are all working together. No one is in the game alone. Teamwork makes the dream work. That is a big thing that Hillgrove’s JV team represents. Each practice the boys work hard on each and every skill. They try to master the plays and moves so that when they go out on that field they go out with a bang and come off the field with a win. Each time they win they are more than proud of themselves, but they do not let the win get to their head. They still see the work that they need to put in the and the skills that need improvement. They never get cocky and stop seeing what is important. They continue to put in blood, sweat, and tears into everything they do. Not only do they have to keep up the good work on the field but, also in school they have to keep up their grades and keep up with studying.
