Juicewrld’s Lawsuit

The rapper Juicewrld is very well known in the rap industry. One of his most famous songs is titled Lucid Dreams. This song became popular almost as soon as it was released on May 4, 2018. Recently, it has been discovered that supposedly it has been copied by a band with the stage name of Holly Wood Died. They sued him for around 15 million dollars, claiming that it has the same melodic elements compared to their song. This was very recent compared to when the song came out, over a year later they just now filed for this on October 21, 2019.
Jordan Bek, a Hillgrove sophomore, just got the news about this recent lawsuit. She states, “Yes, I heard he was sued for the same beat or something from some other song.” Bek believes, “Um, probably only got sued for like a thousand. I think it was way too much money for that honestly.” Talking about if this song should be taken down, she states, “No, because although it uses the same beat or whatever, it still had different lyrics, but I think it was still a good song.” Maya Cramer, a Hillgrove student, talks about what she knows. She states, “Um, I heard about it on Instagram that apparently there is like the same beat from an older song. I guess he copied.” She believes, “Um, I think as a person he is a good person, yea.” How she feels about $15 million taken from him, she says, “That’s a lot of money, but I also think that he’ll bounce back from it.”
Laityn Stewart, a Hillgrove sophomore, is a really big fan of Juicewrld and his music. She says, “Yeah, I think he’s really good because um his songs may be basic rap, but his songs just speak to me and what we all relate too.” Talking about one of his songs, Lucid Dreams, Stewart states, “Of course I have heard of it, that’s what made him famous you know. I think he got really overplayed, but it was a really good song, but it being overplayed made me not like it anymore.” She believes, “No, he probably doesn’t really care about this. I really think he’ll be fine by that because why are they just now coming out about it six months after it or whenever?”
Ever since this was released, Juicewrld has not spoken about it or came out with any new music. This leaves fans wondering on how he is doing and what is going on behind the scenes. This may put a dent in his career, but also could not mean a single thing to him. Fans hope this is not the end of his music career and he will come back even stronger because of it.
