The iPhone 12 Is Out Now! By: Kaya Wilson
News on Apple’s newest iPhone, the 12 held a press conference on the upcoming phone discussing its newest features. The iPhone 12, the iPhone 12 mini, the iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max were all introduced on October 13, 2020. The new phones use similar glass on the iPhone 11, but it is twice as likely to survive or not be cracked or damaged if dropped. It also contains a stronger 5G signal which gives you a stronger connection speed in public areas. The display of the new iPhone has smoother edges similar to the iPhone 5. Apple has also introduced MagSafe, which basically means you can equip cases and chargers on the back of your phone like magnets. Apple reportedly is trying to save the environment and cut down on the amount of electrical waste put underground every year, which affects our food, water, and air, so the new phone does not include a wall charger or wired headphones. It does however come with a Lightning to USB-C cable. Apple is committed to tackling climate change by manufacturing a supply chain to 100 percent renewable electricity by 2030.
Many people were shocked to hear about Apple’s new iPhone and its decision to not include its normal accessories. Rachel Smith who owns her own zero balancing business stated, “I feel like Apple is just running out of ideas why would someone want to buy a phone they can not charge?” Rachel as well as many others were upset with the fact that the new iPhone does not have any drastic physical changes. Isaiah Wilson who is a freshman at FAMU stated, “It looks just like the iPhone 11 there are just different colors, I do not think it is worth my money, I’ll get my upgrade once Apple comes out with something new.” Sammy Matlin who is a senior at North Paulding High School, has an iPhone X and is more than happy that this new iPhone came out. She stated, “I am ready for my upgrade. I want the Pacific Blue Pro Max so hopefully my parents will get it for me for Christmas.” While many are unhappy with the new iPhone, others are looking forward to a new phone.
The iPhone 12 is a faster and durable phone that has been announced and already bought through pre-orders. It has new technology that no other phone supposedly has right now. The starting prices for the iPhone 12 are $699 and $799 for Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint in the United States. There are many improvements with this phone including the camera which gives consumers a sharper or crispier perspective.
