Every high school has a school rival, but rivals aren’t just a school you play in football and get it over with. When a school has a rival, it is against a team that is worthy but not cocky, if you play a team and they are sure they are going to beat you then it makes you want to beat that team even more. When at rivals’ games you always want to come out on top and the Daily American Agrees, “When you play a rival, you don’t just want to beat them, you want to beat them by as much as possible. Especially when it’s a team that thinks they can beat you, you really want to show them that they’re not ready for you.” Rivalries are a way to have more supports than ever come out on one night of the season, it causes the band to give a great performance along with the dance, cheer, and Color-guard, but it also makes the students hyped up in various activities like tailgate. According to HI’s eye it says, “School rivalries improve school spirit by banding athletes, students and other competitors together against a common rival.” Rivalries can have it’s ups and downs, there are some positives but there also are some bad. Rivalries can get so intense that cops are called, schools are defaced, shoot-outs happen, people get hurt, and people get angry. According to the Saxon Scope, “Rivalries between schools will always develop, but when that competitive spirit spills over and damages property and the community, a line has been crossed.” One of the best good points about Rival games is that there is a lot of people who look forward to going to watch the game and we get a hate-week out of it. Many people love hate week and it’s a tradition where both schools drop a diss-track. According to Maison, “Hate week basically is for teams to make disses at the other schools and get riled up for the game of the season between the two schools.” To sum up, Rivalries are the best because they provide positive and negatives, some include more supporters,
