The Hillgrove Football team has made it to the first round of playoffs. This Friday at 7:30 pm, the Hillgrove Hawks will play Lowndes County. The football team has been preparing all season to make it to this point. If they win this, they move to second round of playoffs. Many students will not attend due to the cold weather and the long drive. The football team hopes they will have a large turnout.
Andrew Golhke, #46 on the football team, plays linebacker for the Hillgrove football team. He is the second stream and is excited for Friday night’s game. Our football team has a long way to get to Lowndes County. Since it is so far away, the student section will not be as filled as normal. The boys have to make sure this does not affect them negatively : “ Yes, I think since it's the seniors last game I think they will leave it all on the field and work hard. You know what I’m saying?” Last Friday night, the football team layed North Cobb. The final score was 35-24. Hillgrove took the third loss of the season. Golhke believes this is due to the conditions of our players : “ We have a lot of injuries on the team right now.” |
Blair Porter, a sophomore at Hillgrove, is a fan of Friday games. The football team has been working very hard to try to get this victory this Friday. To prepare, they must be ready, have full energy, and have a positive mindset : “Normal rituals and apparently they aren't going to school so they will get a good breakfast and then be ready.” Since the student section on Fridays have not been in good attendance this year, some students have suggested having a spirit bus. This would take some students to the game to make sure the football players have support : “ Yeah, they should so a lot of students could go and the stands would be filled, also, the players will be more motivated.”
Hillgrove football players and fans have been waiting for this moment all season long. With the season coming to an end, it is crucial that they work together as a team and play with all they have. The football team will be grateful either way the score goes. Students are encouraged to go support their football team on friday night. |
