Hillgrove High School’s Varsity Football team became 8-0 last week after defeating North Paulding High School’s team. This was North Paulding’s senior night, but unfortunately they lost their home game on Friday, October 19th. The Hawks walked away with a 49-24 win over the Wolfpack, continuing their undefeated record for the current 2018-2019 season.
Sydney Summers, a freshman at North Paulding High School, says that she chose to go to the North Paulding vs. Hillgrove game because, “it was the last home game of this season and I thought it would be enjoyable.” She says that she “had so much fun! I went with one of my friends from Hillgrove and she made me laugh the whole entire game.” She feels that “Hillgrove played much better than North Paulding, but North did have several great touchdowns.” When asked how the outcome of this game made her feel, she said that she “obviously wish North Paulding would have won but I feel like Hillgrove deserved the win!” To prepare for their upcoming games, North Paulding “has had many morning practices and has had encouragement on windows all around the school as well.”
Macy Griffith, a sophomore who is a sports medicine trainer at Hillgrove High School, says that the major highlight throughout the game to her was “when a North Paulding player got tackled and fell over into a back roll over my feet, I was in shock.” One word to describe the way she felt during the game was “tired because once we took the lead everyone just wants to go home because we know our defense is good so there’s no point of watching a team win over and over again.”
Gracie Banta, a junior at North Paulding High School, says that, “North Paulding probably won’t get all the way to state, we’ll probably get to the playoffs but I just don’t think our team is strong enough this year to make it to state.” When asked who she was expecting to win this game she said, “I was definitely hoping we would win because it was a pretty close game when we played Hillgrove las year, but deep down I knew Hillgrove would probably win.” She said is because, “I’m not sayin out team is bad this year because we have a lot of talent out on the field and we’re 6-2, but our team isn’t doing as well as we’ve done in previous years, Also, Hillgrove is just a really good team.” Hopefully Hillgrove can win their last two games and finish this season undefeated.
