A lot of schools, including Hillgrove, give their students six to ten minutes to make it to their next class. Some students have difficulty getting to class within the given time. There are plenty of valid reasons for students to be late in the given time such as going to the bathroom, vending machine, or traveling through crowded hallways. Yes, some students are late on purpose or are not good at time management, but some students are responsible enough to try and make it to class in a timely manner.
Students agree that having a shorter amount of time to walk to class is quite the issue. "It makes me rush way more "Adding to that, not being able to use the bathroom or use the vending machine in the first 15 minutes just makes it worse. "It's annoying and just unnecessary issue, like people could use the bathroom and be productive and not feel rushed" showing that students must rush to the bathroom during the passing period just to find out there is a whole line. The amount of people that crowd the bathrooms and halls are a big holdup and is difficult to do in 6 or 10 minutes. In a big school like ours with limited vending machines and bathrooms that we all need it takes a lot more time than we are given.
Teachers say that we are at school to work and not socialize but socializing is a big part of kids and teens' lives. "I usually can't talk to nobody, and I have to go straight to class", If we are not allowed to talk for at least a while, then we might as well do school online. Especially since covid only ended officially earlier this year it is obvious that we are all excited to be able to talk to classmates or friends. Being allowed to talk in between class is not a given but instead must be earned, which is common knowledge for us students would be more than eager do as they are told. Talking and walking is an effective way to exercise our multitasking school which could be beneficial on out parts.
