Netflix Original: Ginny and Georgia

Ginny and Georgia is a Netflix original show that was released on February 24, 2021, and it was created and produced by Sarah Lambert. The show follows 15-year-old Ginny, who is more mature than her 30-year-old mother, Georgia. It has a total of 10 episodes, and it is classified as a comedy drama.
The show has many controversies due to what was said and the way the characters acted in it. Many people felt as if Ginny was ungrateful for what she had and that Georgia was a much better character. A big controversy was when Taylor Swift was mentioned in the show, and it indirectly labeled her as someone who “has a new guy” every week. This caused a lot of backlash from fans. Others have also accused the show of having many usages of stereotypes due to one scene of Ginny and Hunter. There are many good reviews, as well, from people saying that the show was a hit and that Ginny’s character was meant to be portrayed that way. JJ Lee explained how she felt about the show: “I actually really liked it. Ginny was kind of annoying but I think that’s how they're going to have character improvement and maybe in season two we will get to see a new side of her.” Ginny and Georgia recently also streamed number one on Nielson streaming charts.
Many people are waiting for season two, although they are not completely sure if Ginny and Georgia is going to be picked for renewal. With the reviews and how much coverage the show has gotten, it would be a surprise if it did not get renewed. If Ginny and Georgia does get renewed, the soonest could be as early as February next year, but due to covid, it will be as late as February of 2023. Gabby Newman shared her thoughts and feelings about the show and season two: “Overall, I think the show was really good and the ending left me really confused and it just made me want to know more about it...I searched online for explanations of the ending because of how drawn I was to the show. I am really excited for season two because I think you will be able to see a lot of character development from Ginny and I'm excited to see that.”
