As Hillgrove knows, the flag football team is the defending state champion. However, the season is starting off well with the team winning their first game of the season. Getting the thoughts and opinions of the players, spectators, and fellow football players may impact the perspective of the team in further awareness of the success of flag football. Senior Evan Pruitt claims “I like the versatility of the team you know. We need to see different people doing different things, you know. We have a very athletic quarterback and I see a lot of potential in the defense. I like what I see this year.” Evan went to the first game of the season as a spectator and announced he enjoyed the game.
Furthermore, the players teamwork and leadership from the juniors has led this team to victory so far in the season. “It felt very good for the team,” Freshman Madison Johnson assures, “Honestly, we were amazing. We are incredibly happy and that gave us a lot of confidence and showed us what we are good at and what we need to work on and how we are with other teams. So, it is fun, interesting, and amazing.” Freshman Madison Johnson says she played only a small amount of time in the game, however what she did contribute was overall an amazing experience.
Finally, football player Cameron Jones who is a senior and in his fourth year of being on the football team emphasized, “It is a great experience for anyone who is trying to get into football and watch something different that not every school has.” Cameron says he is interested in what the team will look like after they lost a lot of seniors after the previous season. However, so far, he says he likes what he sees and looks forward to seeing the growth throughout the season and will attend another game.
