Hillgrove has many extracurriculars that are sports. The 2022 cross-country team recently made regionals. The country team is made up of boys and girls who like to run. They can run in groups or individually. But anyone can tell you that, so how does cross country work?
First, if you are interested in cross-country, "Get in touch with coaches if you want to join," current cross-country runner Isabelle Hall encouraged. Getting in touch with coaches is a good way to find information on questions you may have about it. This is also a way to see if you are going to be committed to it, because if you end up joining and don’t enjoy it, then that could negatively affect your team.
Additionally, if you have already done the things mentioned in the previous paragraph and you are still interested in joining. Going to the practices is a good idea to get a look at what they usually do on a practice day. "We practice mostly at Hillgrove. We go to the lacrosse field to have a better surface on the grass, but we also, on Mondays, go to the Silver Comet. I drive the bus and some of them are able to drive, and on Wednesdays, we go to Kennesaw Mountain so we can get that terrain trail. " Cecily Crowder, the assistant coach for the cross-country team, said, "We always do lunges and stretches before," Isabelle Hall says.
Cross country has regional so what’s a good way to practice for it? “Start out very slow, don't try to go run 40 miles a week but take it gradually and be smart make achievable goals, and only run if you enjoy running don't go there forcing yourself to do it.” Cecily Crowder stated. You don’t want to rush because that could lead to unhealthy running habits, so it is a good idea to go at a good pace until you think you are ready for more. There’s way more to cross-country than just running, it takes commitment and perseverance, you have to be able to complete the goal and even after that continue. So practicing is a way to gradually get better until you are confident in yourself.
