British Premier League just started and the Manchester clubs are leading the table. We are approaching the second international break and the table is taking a familiar shape. The “Big Six” clubs are in the top half of the table along with Burnley, Watford, Newcastle, and West Brom.
Surprisingly, Burnley FC, which finished 16th in the league last year, is sixth in the league this year. Burnley’s new signing, Chris Wood, has 4 appearances and 2 goals. Sam Vokes, Burnley veteran, also has two goals in four games.
Manchester United’s summer transfer Romelu Lukaku has scored seven goals and one assist in seven games which makes him the top goal scorer in the league for now. Romelu Lukaku joined the Red Devils for almost one hundred million U.S. dollars. Although Manchester City has the top goal scorer, Manchester City is leading the table only by goal differential. Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero is the second top goal scorer in the league with six goals and three assists. Josh Arnold, Hillgrove student and Premier League fan, said “Sergio Aguero is the number one striker in the Premier League.”
Everton and West Ham are having a rough start to the season. West Ham spent about $55,000,000 this transfer window on Chicharito, Arnautovic, and Joe Hart. Chicharito is the 17th op goal scorer with three goals in 578 minutes. Everton spent $148,000,000 over the summer. Wayne Rooney returned to Goodison Park on a free transfer and has scored more goals than Sigurdson, Evertons record signing. Michael Keane was one of the better signings for Everton this window. In his five appearances for the club he has won an average of 3.3 aerial battles per game. He is compared to Laurent Koscielny in the air.
This season I expect Sergio Aguero’s Manchester City to win the league. I asked Nick Blair, Manchester United fan, who would win the league. “Manchester united is definitely going to win because they just can not stop scoring.” Following will be Manchester United, Arsenal, tottenham, Liverpool, and Chelsea. Liverpool may hop up a few spots once Naby Keita joins the squad in January.
