         MTV European Music Awards (EMAs)  is an annual award show that is televised on MTV. This award show honors artists who have excelled in the music industry every year.

          This year, the EMAs were held in Seville, Spain. The host for this year was Becky G, who is a household name in the music industry. There were many appearances on the red carpet like Dua Lipa, Ava Max, Rosalia, etc. Also many performances during the show and pre-show. It is also known that Ariana Grande was the artist most nominated at the EMAs. There were many talented artists who attended this show.

          The EMAs had a lot of performances this year. High school student, Michelle Grove, has a favorite performance. She said, “My favorite performance was Mabel's song Don't Call Me Up because I enjoyed watching the dancers.” A student named, Gregory White, also had his favorite part of the show. He stated, “My favorite part was Dua Lipa performing her new song because I never heard of it. So I was excited to see how she will do.” Award shows give a lot of excitement to people regardless of the outcome of the winners. High schooler, Whitney Ross, felt that overall this was a great award show. She stated, “Although I disagree with some of the winners, overall I felt that this was a great award show. It was very entertaining, and I did not get bored over the performances or speeches. I loved the EMAs this year.” White also agreed that award shows give a lot of excitement. He said, “I feel that [award] shows give people a lot of excitement to see if their favorite artists win, so I just love watching to see who gets the award.” Sometimes people's favorite artists do not win. Grove thinks that Lizzo should have won the push artist of the year. She explained, “I feel Lizzo should’ve won push artist because she has been doing really well this year and achieved so much success.” Ross added that she would have changed some of the winners as well. She explained, “I would definitely change some of the winners because I felt that some people who won didn’t deserve it as much as other artists in the same category.” Nowadays people are more likely to hype up an award show than previous years because of their access to social media. White believes that this is true. He said, “I think it has become more popular now that people have phones. It’s so much faster to vote for the person you want because each fan base has their favorite, so they will try their best to make them win. So I do feel that there is a lot more hype in [award shows] now.” The MTV EMAs  has been a popular award show since 2018.

          The overall view of the EMAs is different for each person. White felt that this year it was very entertaining and fun. He said, “My overall view was that the whole show was very entertaining and fun. Even though not all of my favorite artists won, it was a great award show this year.” This year the EMAs was a great award show.
