The debate between public school and private school is one of the most controversial debates. For, example, some benefits of private school are that they have better average education levels, they offer better opprotunities, and there are more 1 on 1 learning. There are also many poor qualities of private school. They create a lack of diversity among students by telling them to wear uniforms, they also have funding problems, and expensive to attend. There are also benefits of public school. Public school offers free transportation, more freedom, and more community outreach. There are also many poor qualities of public school. For example, they have bigger class sizes, less specialized, and they have less opportunities.
“You shouldn’t have to pay to go to school, especially not thousands of dollars.” Zion Anderson a sophomore at Hillgrove high school states. “When they tell people they go to private school it automatically grabs their attention.” Anderson explains. “If I had to pick one , I would pick public school because it has more freedom.” Statistics show that in 2019 53.9 million k-12 students were enrolled in public and private school. Of those students 9% were enrolled in private school and the other 91% were enrolled in public school. Most private school kids are seen as spoiled rich kids to most people, however that’s not the case for everyone. Cameron Bolton, also a sophomore explains, “ I think that most private school lids are rich and soft kids that think there better then everybody because of the school they go to.” Bolton explains. Bolton states, “ You get more free time and more free opportunities in public school.” “ If I had a kid I would send them to public school because they can have more fun opportunities.”
Justin Massey, a sophomore at Hillgrove states, “I think it can block peoples education because if the persons parents cant afford then they cant get the education they need because of the tuition. About 12% go to public school per year. Massey states, I think people are judged based on the type of school they go to because with colleges they are most likely to look at the private school first.
People have different opinions on private school and public school. Stats show that most people prefer one over the other. They both have benefits and poor qualities when making a decision take those into consideration.
