Overpopulation is a major issue in the U.S today. This is the condition of being populated with excessively large numbers. Numbers show that from 2021 the population has increased 5.2% percent. This includes babies being born, people coming to the U.S etc. The U.S has earned the title “Land of the Free” because of the freedom the citizens get and because any person can be whatever they want to be. Most other countries do not get the same freedom as people in the U.S get so when people get a chance to leave those countries they go to the U.S. So as larger and larger groups come every year, this increases the population a tremendous amount.
Lukas Power, a sophomore at Hillgrove High School theorizes, “I think the country is so overpopulated because there more babies being born, and people are coming to America.” Statistics show that since 2021 the crude birth rate has increased by1.2%. “I think another reason for the population growing is people escaping where they come from for a better life here.” Power inferences. “I think that poverty is a major effect from overpopulation because the more people that come the more houses have to be built and it takes time to do that, so people end up on the streets.” Power explains. Some negatives of overpopulation are poverty, sickness, and crowding.
Cameron Bolton a sophomore at Hillgrove high school explains, “Viruses and things of that nature can spread quickly because its overly populated and nobody wears face coverings like that anymore so it would just spread quicker.” Viruses spread in many ways and when there are large amounts of people in one area the virus can spread even quicker. Overpopulation also affects jobs. “I do think that jobs are running out in the more overly populated areas and that’s how people start their own businesses and things of that nature.” Bolton explains. Statistics show that there has been a 1.3% decrease for people getting jobs. “I think that America is so overpopulated because people are coming to look for new opprotunities and things of that nature.” Bolton theorizes.
Aminah Salam a sophomore at Hillgrove High School explains, I think overpopulation can lead to harder ways to find transportation here especially if you’re in a crowded area.” Salam inferences. “I do think this can lead to stock shortages because people are buying stuff and stores are running out of stock.” Salam explains
To sum things up overpopulation can cause lots of problems, and there are many effects of it. Different people feel different ways about it and there is not really anything to do about it except for adapt to it
