Brain injuries are the most common injury because of all the head-to-head contact that happens. You start to go crazy because of the head injuries and it would probably make you do things you wouldn’t do. “When being asked about the long-term effects of football injuries. The long-term effect from many concussions is Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy also known as CTE. People that suffer from this usually do things that they wouldn’t do on a regular or they act different. The junior stated, “I think it would be good to put technology in the equipment it would make the game safer and add new ideas.” Tetris suggested. The junior uttered, “Yes football can be fatal because if someone gets hit the wrong way they can die, or they can break their neck.” Numbers show cervical spine injuries estimated to occur in 10%-15% of all football players, Most common in defensive players.
Collin Cooperwood a sophomore that’s on the football team at Hillgrove high school was asked to describe a concussion in his own words. “A concussion to me is when you get hit in the head to hard and your head starts hurting.” Cooperwood continued, “I think people should start football at age 5 so they can learn how to play the right way.” He stated, “because of the concussion and how they can mess up your brain and be fatal.”
Justin Massey also a sophomore at Hillgrove high school that used to play for the Hillgrove football team stated, “I think football is a risky sport when you don’t know how to play, but once you know how to play you will be fine.” Studies show that most people get injured when they don’t know how to play the sport. He continued, “I think it is dangerous because you can seriously get injured.” Massey states, “Its ok for little kids to play if they have the right training but when they don’t know how to play is when they get in trouble.”
