Disney Plus is an American subscription video on-demand streaming service owned and operated by the Direct-to-Consumer and International division of The Walt Disney Company. The service primarily distributes films and television series produced by The Disney Walt Studios and Walt Disney Television with the service advertising content from Disney's Marvel, National Geographic, and Star Wars brands in particular. Original films and television series are also distributed on Disney+, with ten films and seven series produced for the platform as of November, 2019. Disney+ debuted on November 12, 2019 in Canada, the United States, and the Netherlands. Within its first day of operation, Disney+ earned 10 million subscribers. Netflix is a provider of internet streaming media. Netflix was founded in 1997 by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph in Scott's Valley, California, which means that you do not need to wait for a number of hours or minutes to get the movie or TV downloaded. As of April, 2019, Netflix had over 148 million paid subscriptions worldwide, including 60 million in the United States, and over 154 million subscriptions total, including free trials.
The majority of teens are going crazy for Disney Plus at the moment. The shows that are shown on Disney Plus are shows that teens grew up with. They get excited because it brings them back so many memories about their childhoods. Carly Thorne, a sophomore at Hillgrove High School, says that Disney Plus was a great thing to come up with. Thorne states, “ Honestly, not even going to lie but it’s better than Netflix. I would choose Disney plus over Netflix any day. I love it so much, it brings back so many memories from my childhood. I just think it’s better overall because Hannah Montana The Movie, Good Luck Charli, and many other shows are shows us teens actually enjoy watching.” Although a lot of teens are a big fan of Disney Plus, Luis Garcia-Cano, a freshman at Berry College, would rather watch Netflix than Disney plus. Garcia-Cano says, “I like Disney but Netflix is more interesting to watch. I like watching series and not like kids movies, because the series has more than one season so you’ll have more to watch and a movie is just a one time thing. Also, with a movie you can only watch it once cause then you know what happens and with a series it’s like you have to wait for what comes and is a surprise.” Not everyone has the same likes but Disney Plus is becoming more popular, either way. It had around 10 million subscribers in a day and people are willing to pay more for Disney Plus than Netflix.
Overall, Netflix still has people that watch their shows because they have things that Disney Plus does not. Disney Plus is going to get a lot more subscribers because teen will tell their siblings about it, it is more for kids than young adults. Either way, if both satisfies you , watch both.
