Monstober is the iconic name of the Disney channel during October. They show new Halloween episodes of our favorite Disney shows and of course the Disney Halloween movies. We all know the classics such as Halloweentown, Twitches, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, etc. How can we pick a favorite when they are all so good!
However, Simone Hayes, a sophomore, was able to narrow it down to three choices. Hayes says, “My top three favorite Disney Halloween movies are Hocus Pocus, the Nightmare Before Christmas, and the Return to Halloweentown.” Hayes also says, “These are my favorite movies because they are scary yet kind of relatable.”
The classic Disney Halloween movies are the most iconic for the most part, but as the years have gone on Disney has come out with newer Halloween movies such as Girl vs Monster and Invisible Sister. Lauren Johnson, a sophomore, says, “I prefer the older Disney Halloween movies because the new ones are cheesy.” Simone also says, “I prefer the older movies because they are legendary and the actors and actresses are younger and cute and the effects are so funny. They did not have the technology we have now so the way they did things were creative and hilarious to the viewer.”
This year everyone is still trying to figure out what they are doing for Halloween. Will the go to a party, trick or treat, or have a Disney Halloween movie marathon? “Yes of course!”, says Kaitlyn Jones, a sophomore, when asked if she will have a Disney Halloween movie marathon this year. Simone also states, “I think I will have a marathon this year because we are going up to see my cousin get married and my family and I need something to do while we wait in the hotel the night before.”
All of the Disney Halloween movies are very well thought out plots, so it must be very difficult to come up with a story for a new movie. Kaitlyn Jones says, “It would be about a high school full of students that are monsters. It is like Monster High, but it will be like almost exactly like how real high school works.” Simone Hayes also says, “If I were to direct a Disney Halloween movie it would be about a girl who falls in love with a monster boy and the challenges they face to try and rescue him from the haunted world he is trapped in.”
Disney has always made very enjoyable movies and their Halloween movies are nothing short of amazing. Halloween is coming around the corner fast, so we all need to gear up and start recording all the reruns of the movies to have our own Disney Halloween movie marathon this year.
