Comic book fans may be in for a nasty surprise, as according to early test screenings, the highly anticipated sequel to Deadpool may not be as good as people may have thought. While test screenings have never been the best source of information, they do occasionally shed light on information that consumers should know, and in this case, be concerned about. Following several leaks on Twitter, it has now been reported that the early cut of Deadpool 2 was a complete failure with test audiences. One user, stated, “From my perspective, with what I’ve heard, they’ve made a HUGE, ALIEN 3 blunder with the story” (taken from screengeek.net). Others reported that the story was indeed muddled and that certain characters were wasted in the movie.
The tweets have since been removed due to FOX threatening to take legal actions against the users to spread the word. Because of this, the film has now reportedly begun doing massive reshoots in order to fix all the shortcomings, leaving the film in a currently broken state. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that this fate has been given to a comic book related project, as both Batman v Superman and Justice League both suffered from excessive behind-the-scenes issues (not to mention that they both bombed in theaters). Hopefully Deadpool 2 will manage to be as good as it's trailers, but right now, things are not looking so good.
Deadpool 2 is the upcoming sequel to the massive 2016 hit Deadpool, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. On top of earning box-office praise, the film was lauded by fans of the comics, who claimed it to even be better than most of the X-Men movies or spun off from. Hillgrove student Dylan Mossor even pointed out that the film “stuck to the spirit of the comics very well”. The sequel will star Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as the Merc with a Moth, Josh Brolin, TJ Miller, along with a plethora of other well known actors, and will be released this May.
