Coronavirus Mutations and Problems

Coronavirus has been a big part of everyone's life lately. Vaccines have come out and everything is looking better. That is not all true though, mutations of the virus are steadily increasing. Coronavirus is only getting more dangerous due to this. People need to stop thinking everything is getting better because in truth it is the opposite.
Coronavirus has around 680 mutations, some more dangerous than others. The vaccine only covers the general coronavirus that they have studied, but there are many mutations that the vaccine does not cover well. In California, a homegrown strain was discovered that spreads faster and is deadlier. This mutation can spread to other states and possibly put us in lockdown again. In the Los Angeles Times, it says, "A coronavirus variant that probably emerged in May and surged to become the dominant strain in California not only spreads more readily than its predecessors but also evades antibodies generated by COVID-19 vaccines or prior infection and is associated with severe illness and death, researchers said.” This is very dangerous and needs to be kept under watch. If people cannot come together and slow the spread, people could go under another lockdown.
Mutations are making it so people are not immune to the virus. Vaccines and antibodies are not going to matter when there is a new version of the virus. People who have had the Coronavirus or even got the vaccine are not safe. People should still wear a mask and socially distance. If people have been doing this all along, they should now. Coronavirus mutations are more dangerous in most cases and are more fatal.
Another dangerous mutation is the B.1.1.7. This mutation is not necessarily more dangerous, but it can give people another case that is moderate or tough for them to get through. Everyone needs to understand that the virus is not done. People more than ever are not wearing masks and are not socially distanced. Everyone needs to know that it is more dangerous than ever.
Cdc.gov states, "To help prevent the spread of COVID-19: Cover your mouth and nose with a mask when around people who don’t live with you. Masks work best when everyone wears one. Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arm lengths) from others. Avoid crowds. The more people you are in contact with, the more likely you are to be exposed to COVID-19. Avoid unventilated indoor spaces. If indoors, bring in fresh air by opening windows and doors. Clean your hands often, either with soap and water for 20 seconds or a hand sanitizer that has at least 60% alcohol. Get vaccinated against COVID-19 when it’s your turn.” Follow these rules. Everyone needs to stay safe.
