Hi, My name is Madison McCann, and this week on the Talon I will be doing a segment on one of my favorites teachers at Hillgrove High School. She is a cheer coach, and specializes in teaching Literature. Rionda Bell is one of the most well known teachers at Hillgrove. She has won teacher of the year 1 and held the title for 2x years, in 2020 and 2021. And won teacher of the month on multiple occasions. This year she primarily teaches American Lit (but this changes year to year.) she also teaches speech and sociology. And after school she teaches cheer. With with the program director Jenifer Spiegel, she is the co director of the Hillgrove High school Cheer program. She also takes the title of Head basketball coach. If you walk down her hall you can always count on her to flash a smile at you. She is known to be very compassionate and understanding towards her students. But vise versus she is a tough coach, who expects the best out of her cheerleaders. They are seen as on of the highlights of the basketball season. And fans enjoy coming to games to watch them. They are extremely tight, coordinated, and loud. This is all because of BELL! Beyond school she is a rockstar. She is married with a husband, and has a little boy named Daxton who is 6. She also on top of all this is in Graduate school, to accomplish her goal of a specialty degree, because she already has a masters in Childhood education. As you can see Bell is a normal person, but she is able to maintain all these roles she plays in Hillgrove Highschool. She is a big part of the school, and we wouldn’t be able to go through the day without her.
